Grapefruit is reputed to strengthen blood vessel integrity to help blood cells maintain their strength and elasticity.
Perhaps its most common use in aromatherapy is cell waste elimination. It stimulants the lymphatic system to reduce waste and is commonly used to reduce cellulite. Grapefruit is also said to improve liver function, energizing to help burn calories and a diuretic to reduce water retention.
In soap making Grapefruit is used mainly for its fresh scent and to a lesser extent, as a disinfectant and mild insect repellent. It is fast releasing, inexpensive and photoxicity is not an issue in products that are rinsed away.

Note: Most essential oils cannot be taken internally, but even when they can, essential oils are highly concentrated and require dilution, special training and caution that Aroma & More does not yet provide. You can never drink any essential oils at 100% strength or diluted in water-based liquids.
Caution: Grapefruit oil contains bergaptene which is phototoxic. A typical reaction is an increased risk of sunburn. It is recommended to cover or avoid sunlight on areas of skin treated with Grapefruit for 12 to 24 hours. Citrus oils have short shelf lives and can cause skin sensitivity if old or oxidized. Essential oils can be harmful if used improperly. Information is provided for educational purposes only. It is up to the customer to determine if the product is right for their intended purpose. Special consideration should be made before applying essential oils to pregnant women, children or the elderly. If under a doctor's care, please consult the physician before using essential oils. If applying to skin essential oils must be diluted correctly and Aroma & More recommends testing on a small area of skin to check for reaction before attempting a full body massage. Claims have not been evaluated by the FDA.
