Almost categorized as a special “Select” oil, this is an exceptional quality of Ravensara oil. Madagascar is known for producing high quality Ravensara essential oil but this is at least above average, even for them! It has a deep, warm, woody, spice aroma that is easy to blend with many other essential oils.
Ravensara is often confused with Ravintsara because of the similarity in names however, the oils are not at all similar. Ravintsara is what some Malaysian people call camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) and has a high cineole content that will resemble eucalyptus but Ravensara has a warm smooth spice aroma. It belongs more in a group with Bay, Basil, Black Pepper or a dry Ginger. Ravintsara is much cheaper than Ravensara so it’s wise to check the aroma before purchase.
