100% Pure & Natural Essential Oil

Siam wood, Fokienia hodginsii is sometimes called Peimou, Pe mou, Po mu, Fujian Cypress or Coffin Wood. It is called coffin wood because the wood is used in coffin building due to its resistance to mold and water damage. The essential oil is extracted from the sawdust by-product from wood cutting. Siam wood is a member of the Cupressaceae or Cypress family but the oil has the beautiful aroma of a quality Cedar wood. It is very Complex, Rich, and Woody with a hint of sweetness, yet missing most of the less desired perfumery notes of cedarwood oils.

The wood is preferred for its longevity & aroma. This species has a strong ability to repel insects, especially insects normally attracted to wood such as termites and is resistant to fungus, mildew and decay. The essential oil also has the insecticidal and antifungal properties. The oil has the pleasant natural aroma of a cedar chest perfect for home, storage areas, closets, bathrooms, saunas and other damp areas to keep insects away help prevent mildew.

Siam Wood grows mainly in Laos and Vietnam along with bordering regions of south eastern China, Burma and Thailand. China has the most grown outside Laos but most is protected. Vietnam has some harvesting but other countries have limited availability and harvesting is strongly regulated.

Regardless, no trees are cut for the sole purpose of manufacturing essential oil. It is a by-product of woodworking made from left over shavings and saw dust.

Other qualities are: Antiseptic, Antifungal, Antibacterial, Anti-inflammatory and a broad range insect repellent. It may assist people suffering from adrenal fatigue or low testosterone. It blends beautifully with frankincense and works well in meditation blends for focus and calming or as a fixative for natural perfumes.

Although it is not “certified organic”, Siam wood is not actively cultivated. It has few enemies in its natural environment so pesticides and fertilizers are not used during the tree’s growth.
