            Osmanthus Absolute has a Beautiful and powerfully strong floral aroma. It takes 3000 kilograms of flowers to produce just 1 kg of this concentrated extract. It has a long lasting fixative quality that makes it very popular in many of the most expensive perfumes and especially natural & sensual perfumes.
            Osmanthus fragrans var. Thunbergii normally contains the most desired perfumery notes of the Osmanthus species. The chemistry of the natural extract is very complex & rich. It is certainly one of the strongest, most beautiful aromas in our collection.
Due to the cost, Osmanthus absolute is usually only used in perfumes and skin care products for its aroma and skin conditioning abilities.             

            Osmanthus however has been used as a relaxant, antidepressant and aphrodisiac, but also for detoxifying, antimicrobial, expectorant for coughs and to sooth digestive problems. It has a long history in Chinese traditional medicine but it is unclear sometimes whether it had a medicinal purpose or was used mainly as a flavor.
It was common to use Osmanthus flowers to flavor bad tasting foods and medicines or to disguise the flavor of food to keep a recipe secret. Osmanthus flower tea is still very popular in East Asia.
             Note: Not for internal use. Most essential oils cannot be taken internally, but even when they can, essential oils are highly concentrated and require dilution, special training and caution that Aroma & More does not yet provide. You can never drink any essential oils at 100% strength or diluted in water-based liquids.
             Caution: The absolute is frequently used in perfumery but rarely used in aromatherapy, so little safety research can be found.
