          Cocona coconut oil is produced in Thailand from the fresh meat of specially selected coconuts. It is produced daily in a newer modern processing facility which meets FDA, GMP and HAACP standards. Temperature is carefully controlled to optimum levels of between 30 ͦ to 35 ͦ C throughout the entire process.

          Coconut oil is made up of mainly saturated fatty acids however, it does not promote weight gain. Coconut oil increases metabolism to burn off calories. It will raise cholesterol however it may improve overall cholesterol profile if a person has high HDL (bad cholesterol) and low LDL (good cholesterol).

         Coconut oil is a natural, very mild sunscreen (or tanning oil). It contains vitamin E and is estimated to be approximately equal to SPF 4 protection. The small amounts worn on the skin are not known to harm delicate ecosystems when swimming such as underwater reefs.

          Coconut oil have mild anti-microbial properties. The medium chained triglycerides (MCTs) are considered to be great for fighting various kinds of microbes be it bacterial, viral or fungal. Coconut oils key constituents and lauric acid and capric acid – both are known to show anti-microbial effect when broken down. When coconut oil is applied to the skin it helps reduce harmful bacteria and fungus which breed on it. 

          In India, coconut oil is used for “Oil Pulling” a technique in which the oil is held in the mouth for appx. 15 minutes to fight bacteria. Similar to mouthwash but a lot milder.

          Coconut oil for massage might be more recent for the western world but it has been used in tropical regions for perhaps thousands of years.
