This Bay was specially selected for its power and rich peppery scent. It has a high eugenol content normally above 55% and is dark brown in appearance compared to most light colored Bay oils. Furocoumarins are not 100% removed but the content is so low it can be classified as Furocoumarin Free (FCF) and safe for use on the skin outdoors.
Cold pressed bergamot contains the furocoumarin Bergaptene which can be photosensitizing and cause a reaction on the skin when exposed to sunlight. A typical reaction would be increased risk of sunburn. Normal cold pressed Bergamot is not ideal for blends that are intended to be worn outside in the daytime such as facial/cosmetic blends.

In order to be classified as a “Select” essential oil an oil must be all natural and a truly exceptional quality that is difficult to duplicate. The CO2 extraction method makes this oil special. For 1) the molecule is heavy, near the limit of what steam distillation can collect. 2) the molecule is heat sensitive and converts to other constituents when heated. The cold extraction process preserves the gingerol in the finished product. Some prefer this oil for nausea associated with things like sea sickness because it is mildly effective against the nausea without the sleepy side effects of Dramamine.

French Lavender H.A. (High Altitude) is one of the most popular and therapeutic forms of Lavender. Distilling at high altitude allows the producer to reduce temperature which increases the ester content and improves the quality of oil. Some batches from this source have an amazing linalyl acetate content above 50%. It also has a low content of camphor, camphene and 1,8 cineole which are less desirable for skin conditioning and relaxation. A good quality lavender has less than 2% of these constituents and this one normally has around 1.4%. It has a mild nature that makes it one of the few essential oils that can be applied to small areas of the skin "neat" (at 100% strength).
Bulgaria is now the world’s leading producer of Lavender. It's no secret we are big fans of Bulgarian essential oils and we were excited to find this High Altitude Lavender oil produced in Bulgaria. Manuka is related to Tea Tree and has many similar uses however the aroma and chemistry is far different. Like many oils the environment where it is grown has a big impact on the quality of oil the plant will produce. This special selection has a much more pleasant aroma that it difficult to describe. It is not similar to anything else and much better liked than Tea Tree. Good quality Manuka oils are even added to some perfumes.

Marjoram Sweet has a very Earthy aroma with some similarity to Tea Tree in use but more pleasant than Tea Tree in aroma. It Spicy, Sweet, Herbaceous, with a hint of camphor and wood notes. It is not similar to Spanish Marjoram Thymus mastichina in aroma or use which is a member of the thyme family. Marjoram sweet is a popular essential oil with a long list of therapeutic benefits. Menthol is the main component of Cornmint Essential oil. Cornmint may be over 35% menthol and have higher menthol content than Peppermint. This Menthol oil is steam distilled from natural Cornmint which is also known as Japanese mint. Cornmint essential oil is rarely sold in its pure form. Usually it is chilled until the menthol solidifies then the liquid and solid is separated into a dementholized cornmint oil (which still contains a large amount of menthol) and menthol oil. The solid menthol crystals turn back into liquid in the remaining essential oil as it returns to room temperature for easier handling. A higher concentration of menthol would crystalize and be categorized as a natural isolate. Menthol oil is a natural extract but neither a complete essential oil nor a highly pure natural isolate. Menthol content is normally around 90%.

In perfumery, myrrh is a fixative used for its quality to hold a blend of oils on the skin to make the scent last. It is long lasting and its strength in small amounts makes it a great value. It would be an excellent oil to consider for those designing a fine aromatic, therapy or perfumery formulas. We are pleased to offer this steam distilled Myrrh essential oil. It is a different species than Myrrh CO2 and maybe even more important, they are extracted by different methods. A big difference between this steam distilled oil and the CO2 extract that we offer is that the steam distilled oil is almost completely oil soluble. Myrrh CO2 or absolute are not easily oil soluble and requires more skill to blend.

Nutmeg seeds have a long history as a food flavoring & spice. It was one of the most sought after spices by Europeans traveling to South East Asia. There are 2 main types of Nutmeg, East Indian and West Indian. Indonesia normally produces the East Indian type of Nutmeg. Nutmeg has a Warm Spicy Masculine Aroma that matches well with its other benefits. The anti-bacterial and antiseptic qualities have been utilized in numerous skin care and cosmetics intended for dull, oily or mature skin.
