The Legend has it that in the 15th century, when a terrible plague spread like wildfire across Europe claiming millions of lives, four thieves from Marseilles were busy robbing dead families of all their possessions.

          The thieves combined their knowledge of anti-infective herbs, spices and other ingredients to protect themselves while entering a contaminated environment. The actual formula has been lost but believed to include vinegar, garlic, cinnamon, clove, lemon, eucalyptus, and rosemary. The Thieves themselves did not contract any infection as they had applied the powerful ingredients on their bodies.

•           Rosemary is grown all over the world but is native to the Mediterranean region. Most of the commercial production today comes from 3 main sources France, Spain and Tunisia. The same species of plant will produce very different qualities of oil when grown in different environments normally separated to 3 categories but there can be more. Typically, France produces verbenone type, Spain produces camphor (or alpha pinene) type and Tunisia produces Cineole type.

            It blends well with many other essential oils and this region of Italy produces one of the highest concentrations of verbenone we have seen. We normally expect around 11% verbenone but some lots have been almost 14%. It has a very low cineole content which makes up the aroma that people normally associate with Rosemary essential oil. Instead it is almost herbal with a hint of sharpness. It is one of the mildest most therapeutic Rosemary essential oils for hair and skin.

          Sanitizer Plus Hand Spray is a concentrated ethanol (ethyl alcohol) spray. It has a minimum of 75% ethanol content along with a combination of natural essential oils traditionally used for their anti-infective properties such as Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus radiata, Lemon & Rosemary. Glycerin is then added for moisturizing and to reduce drying of the skin.
          Hand sanitizer spray can be used as a multi-purpose cleanser to help disinfect surfaces. It can help clean tough stains, baked on foods, road tar on the car and etc…
*The CDC recommends a minimum of 60% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol to kill 99.9% of bacteria
**Only Ethanol or Isopropyl alcohol should be used for disinfectant sprays. Other alcohols like Methanol can be absorbed into the skin and interfere with the nervous system.
