Lemongrass essential oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal qualities as well as being a powerful insect repellent with a pleasant fresh lemony aroma.
It is among the most potent of all essential oils as a purifier and cleanser. In low concentrations it is an ideal component of massage and body oils. Lemongrass oil helps improve skin tone and suppleness.
Lemongrass is a valuable oil for exercise. Lemongrass stimulates and improves circulation to keep a healthy oxygen flow to the cells reducing lactic acid build up. Lactic acid occurs in the cells when they run out of oxygen and begin burning sugar instead of oxygen. This leads to slowly increasing pain in the muscles after exercise and longer recovery time between work-outs.
The Cymbopogon citratus species of Lemongrass contains myrcene which is beneficial for pain reduction.
Lemongrass essential oil also does double duty as an insect repellent and a key component in the perfume industries. As a mosquito repellent it is almost 100% effective against the mosquito species Anopheles culicifacies which is a principal carrier of malaria. It has shown long lasting results compared to some chemical repellents and may last for up to 11 hours. Most natural repellents do not last for more than 5 hours and 7 hours is very good for a chemical repellent.

Note: Most essential oils cannot be taken internally, but even when they can, essential oils are highly concentrated and require dilution, special training and caution that Aroma & More does not yet provide. You can never drink any essential oils at 100% strength or diluted in water-based liquids.
