Opoponax has a long history of use in perfumes and incense and has a strong fixative quality that holds a scent for a long slow release. This oil is highlighted by aromatic notes ranging from balsamic and resinous to sweet, earthy and fruity. The Commiphora erythaea tree is in the same family as Frankincense and Myrrh.
Opoponax is said to be emotionally strengthening and inspire creativity. Like Myrrh, it is calming and focusing, useful to reduce stress and anxiety.
This oil is distillation process, the oil is more lighter than the Absolute one.

For centuries, Opoponax has been used as an antiseptic and for clearing respiratory congestion. Topically, a small amount of opoponax can be blended with coconut oil and applied to sore muscles to relax the muscle and reduce cramping.
