Ylang Ylang is produced in either a fractioned or unfractioned distillation process. In an unfractioned process the oil is distilled in one step and is considered “Complete”. However, many of the most desired characteristics emerge in the early distillation process. To obtain higher concentration of these constituents the distillation for aromatherapy oils is separated into 4 stages, or a fractioned process. The distillation process is stopped at different time periods to collect the oil. The earliest stage for aromatherapy oil produces a product called Ylang Ylang Extra, then Ylang Ylang 1, 2, and 3 with 3 being the least floral aromatically. Production need 100kg of flower to get 1kg of oils.

Madagascar has an excellent reputation for producing some of the best qualities of Ylang Ylang flowers worldwide. Environment, genetics, weather all combine to produce an excellent quality. Selection of materials and the natural fractioned distillation process combines to make this product an excellent value and should make a nice addition to higher end therapeutic and aromatic formulas.
