Basil has antiviral and antifungal qualities which is particularly effective when suffering from cold and flu type symptoms such as coughs, sinusitis, muscle aches and to reduce fever. Basil is one of the most recommended oils for nausea and headache. It is a powerful oil and can overpower a blend so it is suggested to use in small amounts. A little Basil will go a long way.
The herb/spice has been used as an aid to digestion, to ease symptoms of gout and as an insect repellent.
Basil essential oil is commonly added to hair and skin products to treat oily skin. In very small amounts it is thought to tone and improve appearance of the skin
