  •           Also known as “Rosha” in parts of India or Indian Rose, Palmarosa grass has a long Ayurvedic history and has been distilled since the beginning of the distillation practice in the 18th century. It has a pleasant Rose or Geranium Rose like aroma and fractions of Palmarosa are commonly used to dilute or adulterate true Rose essential oil.

  •           Native to the Indian subcontinent, Palmarosa is a wild herbaceous plant, growing to a height of nine feet (three meters). With long, slender stems, fragrant grassy leaves, and flowers in terminal clusters. It has bushy clusters similar to aloe vera but the grass is not as thick as aloe vera. Palmarosa is a member of the Cymbopogon (formerly Andropogon) genus of aromatic tropical grasses. Palmarosa has a soft, lemony-fresh green scent with hints of geranium and rose. Palmarosa essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of the fresh or dried grass.
