In skin care is an astringent and antibacterial used to treat oily acne prone skin. It differs from Orange essential oil in that it reduces the amount of sebum the skin produces. Limes traditionally recommended uses suggest some antiviral antibacterial and disinfectant qualities.
It also works well against respiratory infections. Lime stimulates the body's immune system by increasing white blood cell production, opens airways and fights infection.
The aroma of Lime increases production of digestive juices and feelings of hunger. It is useful to treat loss of appetite or anorexia or to diffuse into the air before a large meal.
Lime essential oil can improve circulation and reduce pain in muscles and joints in rubs.
In pest control it is a repellent for lice, fleas and other insects.
Steam Distilled Lime has very low bergaptene and phototoxicity issues. It is not 100% free of bergaptene but it is so low it is not considered a risk.
Note: Most essential oils cannot be taken internally, but even when they can, essential oils are highly concentrated and require dilution, special training and caution that Aroma & More does not yet provide. You can never drink any essential oils at 100% strength or diluted in water-based liquids.
Caution: Citrus oils have short shelf lives and can cause skin sensitivity if old or oxidized. Essential oils can be harmful if used improperly. Information is provided for educational purposes only. It is up to the customer to determine if the product is right for their intended purpose. Special consideration should be made before applying essential oils to pregnant women, children or the elderly. If under a doctor's care, please consult the physician before using essential oils. If applying to skin essential oils must be diluted correctly and Aroma & More recommends testing on a small area of skin to check for reaction before attempting a full body massage.
