           Cedarwood Virginia is a slow growing evergreen tree in the juniper family with a narrow densely covered crown. It grows in the middle region of the east of the United States and Canada. It has a reddish heartwood or known as Red Cedar. Its woody scent,warm and rich hue.

           It is different in aroma to some other Cedarwood oils. It is heavy, woody and earthier. Like patchouli and vetiver it is used extensively in perfumery for its fixative (holding) characteristics and more masculine scent. A small amount has the ability to make a scent last.

           It also has good insect repellent qualities. As an addition to insect repellent formula's it can improve performance and make the formula last. Blending with Eucalyptus Lemon creates a powerful mosquito repellent with long lasting qualities.
           In Aromatherapy it is used to calm anxiety and nervous tension. It is said to have a mild sedative effect. Its has clarifying properties and popular to used in massage therapy to boost circulation.
           Historically, it was used to treat rashes, cystitis, urinary tract infections and genital warts. This suggests it may have some antiviral capability.
           Cedarwood Virginia has antiseptic and astringent properties may be useful for treating oily skin and hair, acne, dandruff and seborrhea. Its naturally antibacterial and disinfectant. Note: Most essential oils cannot be taken internally, but even when they can, essential oils are highly concentrated and require dilution, special training and caution that Aroma & More does not yet provide.
