          Continuing our pursuit of more variety in woody aromas, we are pleased to find this item from Somaliland and return Frankincense carterii to our collection. There is a generally accepted belief that Frankincense sacra (Boswellia sacra) and Frankincense carterii (Boswellia carterii) are in fact the same species and the difference is only due to the climate in which it is grown. We believe it is likely true but it does not matter for 2 main reasons. #1 is that the purest who prefers Frankincense sacra in their ceremonies, will only use Frankincense sacra and never substitute it with Frankincense carterii. #2 is the composition is very different. If Frankincense carterii is sent for MSGC analysis, it will never pass for Frankincense sacra.

          Nevertheless, this Frankincense has a rich aroma with good therapeutic qualities. It works well when substituted in our blends and should be an affordable substitute for Frankincense sacra and a nice upgrade for those using Frankincense serrata.

          There are many different species and many different qualities of Frankincense available today ranging from almost odorless to very rich incense like aromas. We collect many samples even if we never offer them but this one is above average, a premium value for an affordable price. It is wild harvested, sustainable, naturally steam distilled and has a full long-lasting Frankincense aroma that is clean and meditative.

Frankincense has a wide range of benefits in aromatherapy. As a gift in the past, Frankincense tears would be given as a token for long life and good health. It blends easily with many other essential oils and is a wonderful oil for therapy, perfumery or just home fragrancing.

Emotionally, it is calming and grounding whether applied to the skin or diffused into the air. It is often use for anxiety and stress especially when a restless mind prevents quality sleep. It is nourishing and conditioning for scar tissue, dry and mature skin. In aromatherapy, Frankincense can be used topically, in a compress, bath, direct inhalation, diffused, vaporized or in an aroma burner.

Base oils may not work well in ultrasonic vaporizers.
